The following press release is from DPVA, regarding Glenn Youngkin’s appearance yesterday on his safe space – Fox “News.” Interesting how Youngkin recommended that “the president” (aka, FORMER President Trump, who is not “the president” anymore) wait until after the 2022 midterm elections to announce for president. Alrighty. Youngkin then proceeded with his usual, smarmy lying, about how supposedly “Democrat [sic] leadership” has hurt states, while Republican “leadership” (haha) has helped them. Youngkin also stated that he’s going to “work hard in order to get Republicans elected in Virginia,” calling them “great candidates” (really? extremist/”Big Lie”/climate-science-denying/etc. nutjobs are “great candidates?”).
Youngkin Says He’ll Support All Virginia Republican Candidates. But Will He Stand Behind Vega’s Comments Doubting Pregnancy After Rape?
Richmond, VA – In a Fox News interview, Governor Youngkin said he would support all of Virginia’s Republican Congressional candidates – even far-right extremist Yesli Vega – who recently cast doubt on the likelihood that women who are victims of rape could get pregnant.
Virginians deserve answers from the Governor:
By supporting anti-abortion extremist Yesli Vega, do you support her false comments doubting pregnancy after rape?
Yesli Vega has branded herself as one of the most anti-abortion extremists in the country – even bragging during an out-MAGA-the-other GOP primary that she is the “most conservative candidate” in the race. Vega has denied basic facts about pregnancy and has failed to respond to concerned voters looking for answers on her views on abortion. When asked by the press whether she would support banning abortion in cases of rape, Yesli Vega refused to answer the question. As the Prince William Times reports:
“GOP nominee for Congress declines to say whether abortion bans should include exceptions for rape, incest or life-threatening pregnancies”
“By endorsing Yesli Vega, does Governor Youngkin endorse her comments doubting women can get pregnant from sexual assault?” said DPVA Spokesperson Gianni Snidle. “Governor Youngkin cannot remain silent on this issue. If he plans to support Yesli Vega, he must address her false, offensive, and dangerous comments on sexual assault.”
