Virginia Latino Leaders Council Survey Leads to Endorsement of three incumbent Democratic Members of Congress:  Elaine Luria VA-2, Abigail Spanberger VA-7 and Jennifer Wexton VA-10

October 28, 2022

Arlington, Virginia – Today the Virginia Latino Leaders Council (VLLC) endorsed three Democratic Members of Congress.

This announcement comes after the VLLC 2022 Congressional Endorsement Survey of hundreds of Latino leaders and activists yielded overwhelming support for all three Democratic Congressional candidates.  VLLC’s President, The Honorable J. Walter Tejada, stated, “The three Members of Congress endorsed today represent the best in American politics, service to our country, commitment to our American values, and respect for our cultural diversity.”

Tejada further stated, “These Democratic Members of Congress supported President Biden in the passage of laws that are helpful to the Latino community, such as the Inflation Reduction Act, the American Rescue Plan, and the Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act.  With the support of Spanberger, Luria and Wexton, President Biden also updated and reauthorized the Violence Against Women Act, and signed into law measures for gun control, electronic chips, burn pits, and anti-hate crimes.”

“The bottom line,” said Tejada, “is that VLLC concurs with the survey results showing that Latino voters in Virginia believe that incumbent Congressmembers Spanberger, Luria and Wexton have earned the vote of our community on November 8 and want them to continue fighting for a strong economy with good paying jobs, expanding health care coverage, creating educational opportunities for ALL students, and remaining committed to reforming our immigration system.”

To support our endorsement, VLLC has launched a comprehensive state-wide Spanish language radio and social media ad campaign encouraging the Latino community in Virginia to vote for the three Democratic incumbents.
