Congresswoman Luria Releases 15th TV Ad of Cycle, Highlights Her Independent Voice and Bipartisan Record in Congress
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Former small business owner and 20-year Navy veteran, Congresswoman Elaine Luria (VA-02) announced the release of “Good Catch,” which highlights the Congresswoman’s record of working across the aisle to deliver for Coastal Virginia. This is the Congresswoman’s 15th television ad of the 2022 cycle.
“I am proud to have been named one of the most bipartisan members in Congress. My record of working across the aisle and putting people over politics to provide a pay raise for disabled veterans, secure historic infrastructure investments, and invest in our national defense speaks for itself. I will continue to be an independent voice in Congress and deliver for Hampton Roads,” Congresswoman Luria said.
Congresswoman Luria was named one of the most bipartisan members of Congress in 2021 by the Georgetown University Lugar Center and the McCourt School of Public Policy’s Bipartisan Index, a non-partisan ranking that measures how members of Congress work with each other. The Bipartisan Index also ranked Congresswoman Luria as one of the most bipartisan members of Congress for the 116th Congress.
In August, the Common Ground Committee, a nonpartisan, citizen-led organization committed to improving political discourse, named Congresswoman Luria as one of the highest-scoring lawmakers in working across the aisle on issues that matter to constituents. The 2022 Common Ground Scorecard awarded Rep. Luria a score of 90 out of a possible 110 points with an average overall score of for members of 29 points.
Congresswoman Luria has always put people over politics to deliver for Coastal Virginians.
Since 2018, she has introduced and passed the bipartisan Veterans’ Compensation Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) Act of 2022.
In May, the House overwhelmingly passed two of Congresswoman Luria’s bipartisan bills to assist women veterans. The MST Claims Coordination Act will better assist survivors of military sexual assault and harassment access medical care and mental health services. The Lactation Spaces for Veteran Moms Act ensures every medical facility managed by the Department of Veterans Affairs contains a lactation space for mothers.
In 2021, Congresswoman Luria joined Republicans in supporting an amendment that added $25 billion to the defense budget for significant investments in public and private shipyards and the industrial base, building three destroyers, protecting three cruisers and other seapower platforms that will counter threats from China, Russia, and Iran.
Congresswoman Luria also introduced the Leveraging Opportunities for Americans Now (LOAN) Act to reform the federal student loan system and eliminate interest. Her legislation is the House companion bill to Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL).
