Good news for Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA07):
In a statement to The Washington Post, Cheney acknowledged that she and Spanberger have policy differences, but said she was “honored” to back Spanberger, describing her as a lawmaker “dedicated to working across the aisle to find solutions” while criticizing her Donald Trump-backed Republican opponent, Yesli Vega, a member of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors.
“We don’t agree on every policy, but I am absolutely certain that Abigail is dedicated to serving this country and her constituents and defending our Constitution,” Cheney said. “Abigail’s opponent is promoting conspiracy theories, denying election outcomes she disagrees with, and defending the indefensible. We need our elected leaders to be honest, serious, and responsible, which is why I would urge voters in Virginia’s 7th District to support Abigail Spanberger.”
Go Spanberger – and everyone who supports our constitution and our democracy against the forces of authoritarianism, Trumpism, etc.

U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney Endorses U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger for Reelection
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — U.S. Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) today endorsed U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger for reelection to serve Virginia’s 7th District.
“I’m honored to endorse Abigail Spanberger. I have worked closely with her in Congress, and I know that she is dedicated to working across the aisle to find solutions,” said Cheney. “We don’t agree on every policy, but I am absolutely certain that Abigail is dedicated to serving this country and her constituents and defending our Constitution.
Cheney continued, “Abigail’s opponent is promoting conspiracy theories, denying election outcomes she disagrees with, and defending the indefensible. We need our elected leaders to be honest, serious, and responsible, which is why I would urge voters in Virginia’s 7th District to support Abigail Spanberger.”
In response to Cheney’s endorsement, Spanberger released the following statement:
“Congresswoman Cheney has consistently put the safety and security of our country and defense of our democracy above party allegiance, and I thank her for demonstrating principled leadership in doing so. I am grateful for her support of my reelection campaign, and while she and I may often disagree on policy, we share a commitment to public service, governing with integrity, and protecting the strength of our democracy. She understands that my work for Virginia is grounded in the principle of putting our country first — over party — always.”

Earlier this year, Spanberger was ranked the most bipartisan Member of Congress from Virginia and one of the most bipartisan Members of Congress overall.
Yesli Vega sympathized with the January 6 insurrectionists, who she claimed have been “persecuted” for attacking the U.S. Capitol and the law enforcement officers who defended it.
Vega even pledged to “sponsor legislation” to “release and seek compensation” for those facing charges for attacking the U.S. Capitol.
Recently, Vega refused to “give a yes or no answer when pressed” about the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election.
