This really surprised me, given that Virginia Del. Tim Anderson (R) was a close ally of far-right-extremist VA State Sen. Amanda Chase. Now Anderson writes:
“The warning is not more clear. Move to the center, turn the page on Trump, leave abortion alone and focus on kitchen table issues that we ran on and won in 2021 or expect to get our butts kicked in November 2023.”
For more on Anderson’s move away from Trump, see “An Eye-Opening Call for Republicans to Move On from Trump” From VA Del. Tim Anderson (R), a Close Ally of Trump-Worshipping VA Sen. Amanda Chase (Anderson: “Trump running for President is the absolute worst thing that can happen to Virginia state politics.”); VA GOP in Disarray: Trump Goes Racist on “Young Kin” (“Sounds Chinese, doesn’t it?”); Amanda Chase Rips Tim Anderson Comments as “hurtful, divisive and quite honestly odd”; etc. The question is, will other Virginia Republicans follow Anderson’s lead? So far, other than Winsome Sears – who truly is a far-right extremist, and is only breaking with Trump for cynical, calculated political reasons – and possibly Del. Glenn Davis, has any other Virginia Republican broken with Trump?
