No doubt – if anyone knows how to win in a “battleground” district, it’s certainly Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA07), who won not once, not twice, but THREE times in an extremely competitive district – first by two points against Dave Brat (R) in 2018, then by just under two points against Nick Freitas (R) in 2020, then  by 4.6 points against Yesli Vega (R) in 2022.

Spanberger Statement on Battleground Leadership Representative Election Results

The Congresswoman was Elected by a Majority of Democratic Frontline Members and Red-to-Blue Members to Serve as Representative to U.S. House Democratic Caucus Leadership

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger today released the following statement after a majority of Democratic Frontline Members and Red-to-Blue Members elected her to serve as Battleground Leadership Representative.

“I am honored that my colleagues elected me to serve as their representative to Caucus leadership.

“Since I came to Congress in January 2019, I have been focused and purposeful in sharing with our leadership the sentiments, beliefs, and priorities of residents of the Seventh District. In this role, I’ll continue to do so as I represent my district, while also bringing the voices of other swing districts to the Democratic leadership table to help Congress better serve all Americans and respond to their concerns.

“My top priority and responsibility as representative of Virginia’s Seventh District is to serve our neighbors to the best of my ability. As the first-ever Battleground Leadership Representative, I will use my knowledge of the issues, concerns, and priorities of the Virginians I represent — and Americans across congressional districts — to help the Democratic Caucus make informed decisions, get things done, and better serve Americans across all geographies, of all backgrounds, and who hold a variety of political viewpoints.”
