See below for responses by President Biden and Virginia elected officials to the brutal murder of Tyre Nichols. Horrifying and 100% unacceptable; it’s long past time for reform to policing in America. On that point, it’s worth noting that Democrats have strongly supported doing just that (including the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act of 2021, which “passed the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives on a mostly party-line vote of 220–212, but not the evenly divided Senate amid opposition from Republicans”), while Republicans have overwhelmingly OPPOSED reforms to policing, criminal justice, etc.
