“The Youngkin administration recently pulled Virginia out of ERIC. This thread explains why—and the consequences for the Commonwealth and the country.”

The far right is "pushing for policies in the name of election integrity that are actually hurting election integrity"

See below for a very helpful, informative Twitter thread by NPR reporter Miles Parks, examining the question, “Why are Republicans abandoning one of the best tools the government has to find voter fraud?” The short answer: “We uncovered a complex far right pressure campaign, and an election denial blueprint for 2024.” And, disturbingly, it’s happening here in Virginia as well, with Gov. Glenn Youngkin (you know, that supposed “moderate,” according to the “mainstream media” in 2021 and beyond) recently pulling Virginia out of the crucial multi-state voter information partnership known as ERIC. For more on why that’s a  HORRIBLE decision, see Video: House Democratic Leader Don Scott, Senate Democratic Caucus Chair Mamie Locke Discuss Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s Latest Attack on Voting Rights and Audio: Former Chairman of Virginia’s State Board of Elections Bob Brink Rips Youngkin Move to Pull Out of ERIC, Giving In to “years-long disinformation campaign…buttressed by Donald Trump”. Also, see last night’s PBS NewsHour report on this subject, with “NPR’s Miles Parks speak[ing] with Amna Nawaz about the potential damage to election safety.” Bottom line: “the common throughline with a lot of the election denial movement, frankly, is pushing for policies in the name of election integrity that are actually hurting election integrity.”
