As the Arlington Democrats accurately put it: “Glenn Youngkin is ditching his former BFF Mark Robinson in North Carolina. But is perfectly fine still campaigning for Trump. They will both lose regardless.”
So here’s the deal with Glenn Youngkin:
- He has absolutely zero moral core or ethical compass, as evidenced by pretty much all his behavior since he started running for governor in 2021.
- He will say/do whatever it takes – even if it harms Virginia and/or the country – in his relentless quest for POWER for himself (note: previously, Youngkin was out for MONEY, and he earned a ton of it, ethics be damned in the process. And no, he didn’t give a crap about Virginia, he just saw it as a stepping stone for his own political ambitions after he was axed from the Carlyle Group).
- So here’s Youngkin’s calculation on this: a) Youngkin believes that Trump still has a shot of winning; b) if Trump wins, Youngkin could get the Secretary of Commerce job or other Cabinet position in a Trump admninistration, and Youngkin definitely wants that; c) Robinson, in contrast, has no shot at this point, and also offers no “upside” politically for Youngkin to keep supporting him at this point; d) in short, this is a purely cynical, amoral political calculation by Youngkin, nothing whatsoever to do with any principles, especially given that Youngkin (and all of us) already KNEW how horrible Robinson was before the latest news about his comments (e.g, that he’s a “Black NAZI”) on a porn site.
- Note how Youngkin does NOT give a crap about the fact that Trump, by any objective metric, is FAR worse, FAR more dangerous – a true menace to our democracy – than a buffoon and extremist like Robinson, who at worst would f*** up North Carolina, but would never get elected president, where he could do incalculable damage – as Trump will most definitely do if, god forbid, he wins in November! But Youngkin doesn’t care about any of that, only his own ambitions…
- Also note: assuming Trump loses, Youngkin will almost certainly dump him too, with some kind of smarmy reasoning along the lines of “hey, I tried my best, but now it’s time to move in different direction, no matter how much we all LOVE President Trump,” blah blah blah. And, of course, Youngkin will see HIMSELF as that different direction – because no question about it, Youngkin sees himself as president someday. And yes, that would be a f’ing DISASTER!
