Senate District 32 Democratic Nominee Kannan Srinivasan Will Resign in January 2025 to Ensure House District 26 Residents are Represented During the 2025 General Assembly Session
Richmond, VA – Today, Senate District 32 Democratic Nominee Kannan Srinivasan submitted a letter to the Speaker of the House indicating he will resign as District 26 Delegate effective January 7, 2025. By submitting a timely resignation, a special election can be called to ensure the constituents of House District 26 will have continued representation in the upcoming 2025 General Assembly Session. Delegate Srinivasan issued the following statement:
“I thank the voters of Loudoun County for putting their faith in me as their Democratic nominee for State Senate District 32. I look forward to building on the trust we’ve earned and enthusiastically representing the residents across the 26th District for the rest of my time in this office.
With the general election now in front of us, I am taking nothing for granted and will continue to put in the hard work to ensure we maintain our Senate Democratic majority. The voters of the 32nd Senate District have the opportunity to make their voices heard on January 7, and I will work tirelessly to earn their vote and support.
As I now begin to campaign for the Senate District 32 General Election, my responsibility to ensure the residents of House District 26 continue to have effective representation remains. It is of vital importance that they maintain representation during the upcoming General Assembly Session, considering the number of important legislative issues and constitutional amendments under consideration.
To ensure the voters of House District 26 have an opportunity to select their next Delegate before the start of the 2025 General Assembly Legislative Session, I tendered my resignation, effective January 7, 2025, to Speaker Don Scott. I look forward to supporting the eventual House District 26 Democratic nominee and ensuring we work together to keep Virginia moving forward.”
