Youngkin Vetoes Legislation Which “would have ensured enforcement of current law that requires perpetrators of domestic violence to relinquish their firearms.”

Youngkin had many horrible, inexcusable vetoes, but this one’s got to be at or near the top of the list: legislation by Sen. Barbara Favola and Del. Elizabeth Bennett-Parker that “would have ensured enforcement of current law that requires perpetrators of domestic violence to relinquish their firearms.” I mean, seriously, how evil do you have to have “again chosen to stand with the NRA and the gun lobby rather than protecting women and victims from deadly domestic violence?” In Youngkin’s case, it’s the form of evil that basically puts his own cynical calculations for what he needs to do in order to curry favor with the Trump/MAGA “base” over the LIVES and SAFETY of Virginia women! Utterly disgusting.

P.S. Youngkin vetoed this bill last year as well, at which time, advocates noted that “Virginia’s victims of domestic violence continue to live in clear and present danger of being shot and/or killed by their abuser due to the Governor’s decisions.” and that “This is a matter of life and death.”
