HIGHLIGHT REEL: Sears Lies About Her Extreme Record on Abortion Rights and Doubles Down on Her Opposition to Marriage Equality
VIRGINIA – During a recent interview with Richmond’s 8News, Winsome Earle-Sears outright lied about her extreme record on abortion and then doubled down on her opposition to marriage equality. The interview follows Sears leaving notes on legislation that she’s “morally opposed” to protecting reproductive freedom and marriage equality.

Sears lies about her support for a near-total abortion ban:
Reporter: In your case, as I mentioned on the campaign trail with General Assembly candidates in 2023, you favored limiting abortion at 15 weeks. If a bill like that were to come to your desk as governor, would you limit a woman’s access to an abortion at 15 weeks or less?
Sears: We’re not limiting access at all. That’s not what we’re saying.
Sears Makes Her Record of Refusing to Protect Virginians’ Reproductive Rights Clear:
Reporter: Where’s the limit for you personally or what would you advocate for?
Sears: Well, I’ve already answered that question.
Sears doubles down on her “morally opposed” notes regarding reproductive rights and marriage equality:
Reporter: Why did you feel the need to kind of take that unusual step and write on the bill and make your thoughts known?
Sears: I don’t think it’s so unusual. […] but I felt that I wanted everyone to understand where I stood.
Reporter: So what? I just want to follow up. Does that mean you’re opposed to same sex marriage in Virginia? Are you for. You said civil union.
