On Monday, Spanberger Made Stops in Lee County, Bristol, Floyd County, & Blacksburg

BLACKSBURG, Va. — Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger on Monday continued her “Virginia Votes Bus Tour” with stops at a community center and rural hospital in Lee County — the westernmost locality in the Commonwealth, a hard cidery in Bristol, a rally with supporters in Floyd County, and an event with students in Blacksburg on the campus of Virginia Tech.

Spanberger spent the day outlining her plans to lower costs for Virginians — at the doctor’s office and at the pharmacy counter, in the housing market, and on their energy bills. In talking with Virginians, Spanberger made clear that, as the next Governor of Virginia, she will never be afraid to stand up for Virginia and put Virginians first.

Lee County

Spanberger began Day Three of the “Virginia Votes Bus Tour” at Pennington Gap Community Center in Lee County — the westernmost county in Virginia — where she listened to Virginians and outlined her plans to lower costs and strengthen Virginia’s economy by approaching the unique challenges facing different communities across the Commonwealth.

Afterward, Spanberger toured Lee County Community Hospital to learn more about the challenges the facility faces, especially in the wake of the Republican tax law that threatens rural healthcare facilities across Virginia. Spanberger made clear that, as the next Governor of Virginia, she will stand up to attacks on rural healthcare providers.

Bristol

On Monday afternoon, Spanberger laid out the stakes in this year’s election at Squabble State Hard Cider & Spirits in Bristol, encouraging Virginians to head to the polls and make their voices heard. Spanberger also toured the cidery, listening to the challenges and opportunities facing small business owners in Southwest Virginia and outlining her focus on strengthening Virginia’s economy.

Floyd County

Spanberger continued the day meeting supporters in Floyd County, encouraging them to make their voices heard. Addressing a packed room, Spanberger outlined her plans to lower costs for Virginians, strengthen Virginia’s economy, and put Virginia’s public schools on a path toward being the best in America.

Blacksburg

Spanberger closed out Day Three of the “Virginia Votes Bus Tour” rallying with students and supporters at Virginia Tech. Spanberger shared her plans to support Virginia’s institutions of higher education as the next Governor of Virginia.

BACKGROUND

Spanberger remains focused on putting Virginians first as their next Governor — by lowering costs for Virginia families, growing Virginia’s economy, and making sure Virginia’s schools are the best in the nation.

Earlier this year, Spanberger rolled out her Affordable Virginia Plan to lower Virginians’ healthcare, housing, and energy costs. The cost of living remains the top issue for Virginia voters.

In July, Spanberger rolled out her Growing Virginia Plan to grow workforce training opportunities for Virginians, bring more business investment to Virginia, and expand trade opportunities for Virginia businesses. In the face of the Trump Administration’s attacks on Virginia’s economy and workforce — attacks that led the University of Virginia to forecast that the Commonwealth will have virtually no job growth in 2026, Spanberger will stand up for Virginia jobs.

In August, Spanberger announced her Strengthening Virginia Schools Plan to strengthen Virginia’s child care and early childhood education programs, K-12 schools, and institutions of higher education. As a mom of three kids in Virginia public schools, Spanberger has a plan to make sure Virginia’s schools are the best in America.

The “Virginia Votes Bus Tour” is Spanberger’s second statewide bus tour of her campaign. Earlier this year, Spanberger completed her eight-day, 49-stop “Span Virginia Bus Tour,” which energized voters across the Commonwealth.
