Today, a bipartisan majority of the U.S. House of Representatives — including Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger — voted to pass the CHIPS and Science Act.
But Yesli Vega, the Americans for Prosperity Action-Virginia (AFP)-backed Republican nominee for Virginia’s 7th District, would likely have voted against growing Virginia’s economy, supporting Virginia’s semiconductor industry and workforce, and standing up to China if her endorsers had their way.
On Wednesday, AFP strongly recommended legislators vote against CHIPS and Science Act, writing (incorrectly) in a statement to lawmakers that China is still dependent on the rest of the world in this industry: “China still lacks the capacity to produce leading-edge semiconductors.”
Virginians can’t trust Yesli Vega to support good jobs and Virginia manufacturing while her Koch-funded endorsers are pulling the strings.
“Yesli Vega is in the pocket of a Koch-funded dark money group and their shared agenda is a threat to Virginia’s economy and America’s national security,” DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson said. “Yesli Vega is not only extreme on issues like abortion and the future of U.S. democracy, but also when it comes to growing Virginia’s economy, supporting new jobs, and standing firm against China.” |
