THE PERFECT MATCH: Anti-Abortion Radical Endorses Anti-Abortion Radical in Virginia
Richmond, VA – Yesterday, Virginia Lt. Governor Winsome Sears endorsed anti-abortion radical Yesli Vega – a match made in heaven.
Lt. Governor Sears and Yesli Vega have both spread lies about abortion. After Roe was overturned, Lt. Governor Sears falsely claimed that after conception, “The baby isn’t even [in the mother’s] body, she’s got her own body.” In June, Axios reported, Yesli Vega asserted women who are victims of rape could be less likely to become pregnant, because, “it’s not something that’s happening organically.”
Additionally, Yesli Vega and Lt. Governor Sears both have made their anti-LGBTQ stance very clear. In a recent interview, Sears “side-stepped questions” on whether she would support a same-sex marriage ban in Virginia. In a separate op-ed, Sears grossly stated, “I also believe our society has gone immeasurably beyond almost all standards in accommodating the homosexual community over the last couple of decades.”
Yesli Vega has spewed similar rhetoric and even voted against LGBTQ protections as a member of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors. In a recent forum, Vega stated, “I support the traditional definition of marriage.”
“Yesli Vega and Lt. Governor Sears are radical extremists who are a match made in heaven,” said DPVA Spokesperson Gianni Snidle. “The two have recklessly spread lies about abortion, spewed anti-LGBTQ rhetoric, and are dangerously out of step and out of touch with the values of Virginians.”
