In response to MAGA Republicans stumbling to defend Donald Trump and JD Vance’s extreme and unpopular rhetoric and Project 2025 agenda on the Sunday shows, DNC Rapid Response Spokesperson Addison Dick released the following statement:
“While Donald Trump’s MAGA minions are struggling to defend his extreme and flailing campaign on the airwaves, Trump is proving he can’t do any better himself as he continues to chicken out on a second debate with Vice President Harris. Trump knows he is running on a wildly unpopular and out-of-touch agenda – and that voters are ready to reject his extreme MAGA ticket this November.”
Tom Cotton and Lindsey Graham defended Donald Trump’s decision to back out of another debate with Vice President Harris because he is scared to defend his failed record and his extreme Project 2025 agenda.
Robert Costa, CBS News: “Former President Trump, even though there are just a few weeks left in the campaign, has so far said he does not want to participate in another debate with Vice President Harris. Is that a mistake? Do the American people deserve to hear more from former President Trump and the Vice President about their views?”
Cotton: *Refuses to answer*
Costa: “Should Trump debate again?”
Cotton: “There’s no- he’s already debated twice.”
Jake Tapper, CNN: “[Trump] has not agreed to do another presidential debate. Do you think that he should? For example, Kamala Harris has accepted CNNs invitation if they want to do another presidential debate. He liked the debate we did last time. He thought we were fair. He thought the rules were fair. … Should he do another debate?”
Graham: “I’m gonna leave it up to him, but I’d like to see it myself.”
Tom Emmer could not answer for JD Vance’s historic unpopularity as he helps him prepare for this week’s upcoming VP debate.
Martha Raddatz, ABC News: “Recent national polls found anywhere from four in 10 to six in 10 voters hold unfavorable views of JD Vance.”
[…]
Emmer: “I think JD is very likeable and I think he’s well liked. And I don’t buy into these snapshot polls that are being done for a specific reason.”

Katie Britt refused to answer why Senate Republicans – including Vance – voted against protecting IVF access nationwide after Trump put it at risk.
Shannon Bream, Fox News: “You voted against a measure though that was offered up by Democrats on IVF in the Senate there, and they continue to point to that to say Republicans aren’t supportive of protecting IVF. Why did you vote no?”
Britt: “So Shannon, I’m so glad you brought this up. … [Senator Chuck Schumer] chose to put an IVF bill on the floor for a show vote.”
New York Times: “[The Alabama ruling was] made possible by the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade in its 2022 Dobbs decision, which was a result of Mr. Trump’s appointment of three justices.”

Emmer and Graham stumbled over themselves to defend Trump’s extreme and offensive rhetoric on the campaign trail.
Raddatz: “Do you approve of that language, Donald Trump calling her mentally disabled, mentally impaired?”
Emmer: “I think we should stick on the issues.”
