From the Shannon Taylor for VA01 campaign about this clown and Trump sycophant, Rep. Rob Wittman (R-VA01), who among other things is terrified to answer the simple question (see video here and below the press release) , does he want Trump to come campaign for him. LOL
Wittman Voted 60 Times to Repeal the ACA — Now Wants Credit for Trying to Save It
As premiums spike and Virginians lose coverage, Wittman’s shift comes only as election nears
Henrico, VA – A new report from the Virginia Mercury details how Congressman Rob Wittman spent nearly two decades in Washington voting more than 60 times to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Having once bragged about his voting record to slash healthcare coverage, Wittman is now attempting to hide behind a single vote earlier this year to extend the subsidies. In response to this election year pivot, candidate for Congress in Virginia’s 1st Congressional District, Shannon Taylor, released the following statement:
“Nearly 20 years in Washington. More than 60 votes to repeal the Affordable Care Act. That’s Rob Wittman’s record. Now, with an election around the corner and families facing higher premiums, he wants to try to change his tune. Playing politics with people’s healthcare is exactly the kind of thing that Virginians hate about career politicians. Our community deserves a representative who will lower costs and expand care, not one who brags about their votes to rip it away.”
It resulted in the largest healthcare cuts in history — doubling and tripling premiums, stripping Virginians of coverage, and pushing rural hospitals toward closure. As a result of his vote:
- The expired subsidies have pushed 94,000 Virginians off their insurance so far.
- Nearly 350,000 Virginians are at risk of losing health coverage as marketplace and Medicaid enrollment collapse under the law.
- Three clinics have already closed in Virginia, and 13 hospitals — including Rappahannock General right here in VA-01 — are at risk of closing next.
- Healthcare premiums have soared 23% for Virginians in 2026, forcing families to pay more or drop coverage altogether.
- Wittman personally profited — his tax break on his luxury beach house was worth more than some of his constituents make in a year.
- Wittman failed to extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits time and time again despite promising that he would address the issue, and now healthcare premiums have already officially skyrocketed for hundreds of thousands of Virginians.

Wittman just spews out lie after lie, also refuses to answer – even when asked THREE TIMES – whether he wants Trump to come campaign for him. Also, interesting that he says he’s not going to Trump’s bizarre “convention” next week. Oh, and Wittman won’t say if the Iran war is a war or not. And as an added “bonus,” he appears to be saying that he’s on the same page as the worst Defense Secretary in U.S. history, Pete Hegseth, and that he still has confidence in Hegseth. What a pathetic joke.
