Here are a few national and Virginia news headlines, political and otherwise, for Tuesday, June 14. If you’re a Democrat who lives in Arlington, don’t forget to vote today for Erik Gutshall for County Board. Also, I recommend that 4th CD Democrats vote for Donald McEachin for Congress; and that 1st State Senate district Democrats vote for Shelly Simonds in the special election there. Also check out Samantha Bee’s righteous rant on the Orlando mass murder.

- Trump’s reckless, dangerous Islamophobia helps the Islamic State
- The Orlando shooter, Donald Trump and the wave of hatred gripping our country
- Assault weapons must be banned in America (“It is the only constitutional measure that would make Orlando-style mass killings less lethal.”)
- The Orlando shooting shows again that it always comes back to the guns (“It is crazy that you can now buy a weapon similar to the one I trained on when I was in the Army.”)
- Orlando shooter Omar Mateen was gay, former classmate says (So many of the worst homophobes turn out to be self-hating closet cases themselves.)
- Donald Trump’s foreign policy speech revealed a dangerous mix of ignorance and arrogance
- Donald Trump just barred Washington Post reporters from campaign events. That should bother you. (So much for freedom of the press if dictator/tyrant-wannabe Trump ever becomes president.)
- Donald Trump’s war with Islam: A campaign rooted in pernicious religious discrimination (“In response to Orlando, Donald Trump broadens his anti-Islam policies and casts suspicion on all American Muslims”)
- The 6 most ludicrous claims the Trump campaign has made since the Orlando massacre
- Coal And Gas To Begin ‘Terminal Decline’ In Less Than A Decade, Bloomberg Says
- Trump’s terror response has Republicans fretting anew (“‘Every time you turn around, he’s said something new. It’s impossible for us to keep up,’ one GOP lawmaker complains.”)
- Trump’s politics of fear (“He’s betting the insecurity that drove his primary win is just as relevant in a general election.”)
- Time to vote: Most of South Hampton Roads is choosing congressional nominees Tuesday
- A regional tax for Metro? Goal is to make pitch in Richmond, Annapolis in 2018
- Democrats in D.C. and Va. are supposed to head to the polls. Will they?

- State transportation board to vote on $14.4 billion plan
- Voting rights restoration case to go before Virginia Supreme Court (“The Supreme Court of Virginia will hold a special session July 19 to take up the Republican challenge to Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s order that restored voting rights for more than 200,000 felons.”)
- Roanoke prayer services on Tuesday to honor Orlando shooting victims
- Virginia will see losts of presidential campaignining (I left the actual RTD title with its misspellings – “losts” and “campaignining” just to illustrate how lame that rag is.)

- One more beautiful day before skies turn grey and damp
