Here are a few national and Virginia news headlines, political and otherwise, for Wednesday, September 14. Also, check out the video of President Obama demolishing Trump, dinging the “false-equivalency” media and strongly defending Hillary Clinton. Great stuff on all counts.

- Candidates’ dour talk about the economy is undermined by the economy (“New data refutes Mr. Trump’s and Mr. Sanders’s rhetoric.” Actually, Sanders is right about economic inequality, Trump is wrong about everything.)

- Trump’s Secret (“Unlike Clinton, he isn’t transparent about anything, but he has dictated how the press judges him.”)

- Democratic VP Candidate Tim Kaine in Bay Area for Three Fundraisers
- Editorial: What’s ahead for ethics laws in Virginia? (“True reform would be a ban on all gifts to Virginia legislators, and we hope it happens.” Certainly no gifts of any kind from corporations with business before the state. That’s almost the definition of unethical.)
