American Muslim Women PAC Endorses LuAnn Bennett in Virginia’s 10th District

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, D.C., October 21, 2016 – Today the American Muslim Women Political Action Committee (AMW PAC) endorsed LuAnn Bennett in the race against Barbara Comstock in Virginia’s 10th Congressional district.

This is the first Congressional candidate the AMW PAC has ever endorsed.

Ms. Bennett’s stance on key policy issues such as comprehensive, sensible immigration reform, equal opportunity for women and increasing opportunities for small businesses are several of the driving factors that led to this endorsement. Her commitment to work across the aisle, coupled with her experience in business bringing people together to solve issues, emphasizes her focus on putting the community before politics.

“We’re proud to endorse LuAnn Bennett,” said Mirriam Seddiq, founder of AMW PAC. “I had the opportunity to spend some time talking with LuAnn about the issues that are important to us as American Muslim Women. She listened with an open mind. We truly believe that Ms. Bennett will be a strong ally for Muslim women in Congress.”

Ms. Bennett’s consistent messages of inclusion and her understanding of the benefits of a diverse and thriving community prove her to be the kind of candidate the AMW PAC hopes to work with in the coming months and years if elected.

In response to the endorsement, LuAnn Bennett said, “I am greatly honored to be the first congressional candidate ever endorsed by the American Muslim Women PAC. Northern Virginia is home to a welcoming Muslim community that wants a Congresswoman who will fight to build an economy that works for everyone, create more educational opportunities, and fight for comprehensive immigration reform. Above all, they want a Congresswoman who will stand up to hatred, bigotry, and division. My campaign has always been about bringing people together to build a better future. I look forward to working with the Muslim community to build bridges and to make Northern Virginia a more welcoming place for all.”
