Here are a few national and Virginia news headlines, political and otherwise, for Sunday, January 20.
- Pelosi Statement on Trump Speech (Trump’s “proposal is a compilation of several previously rejected initiatives, each of which is unacceptable and in total, do not represent a good faith effort to restore certainty to people’s lives. It is unlikely that any one of these provisions alone would pass the House, and taken together, they are a non-starter. For one thing, this proposal does not include the permanent solution for the Dreamers and TPS recipients that our country needs and supports.”)
- Trump’s border wall ‘compromise’ is more of the same and a ‘non-starter’ for Democrats (“Trump’s ‘common sense compromise’ was no compromise at all.” BTW, whenever you hear a Trumpster talk about “common sense,” you know it’s anything but that.)
