I’m 100% with 4-Star General Wesley Clark that Willard “Mitt” Romney’s wildly irresponsible for his rhetoric suggesting that Russia is “without question, our No. 1 geopolitical foe.”

Surely one lesson of the 21st century is that America’s security in the world depends on making more friends and fewer enemies. Governor Romney’s statement sounds like a rehash of Cold War fears Given the many challenges we face at home and abroad, the American people deserve a full and complete explanation from Governor Romney. Good policy does not come from bumper sticker slogans. The next president is going to have to take America forward, out of war, and into other challenges. The rekindling of old antagonisms hardly seems the way to do it.

Of course, with foreign policy advisors like John Bolton (a super-hawk and loose cannon. about whom fellow Republican Richard Lugar said, “In the diplomatic world, neither bluntness nor rhetorical sensitivity is a virtue in itself. There are times when blunt talk serves a policy purpose; other times it does not.”), Robert Kagan (“co-founder with William Kristol of the Project for the New American Century“), Eric Edelman (“former advisor to Vice President Dick Cheney who serves on the boards of a number of hawkish policy group“), and Robert Joseph (“a senior scholar at the National Institute for Public Policy (NIPP), a think tank that promotes hawkish strategic policies, including on missile defense and nuclear strategy“), is it any surprise that Willard’s gone off the deep end too?
