So, at this point (5/16), in Virginia we’re at 29,683 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 3,724 hospitalizations and 1,002 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 1,011 (+3.5%) in the latest statistics, which is a faster rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 859 (+3.1%). The number of TOTAL test results was 205,249 (up 9,567, from 195,682 yesterday), while the number of “PCR Only” tests was 184,118 (up 7,437 from 176,681 yesterday)…VDH now breaking this out, following The Atlantic article on Virginia’s statistics for testing. As for hospitalizations, they went up 67 (+1.8%), from 3,657 to 3,724, which is the same rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 65 (+1.8%). Deaths are reported up 25 (from 977 to 1,002), compared to an increase of 22 (from 955 to 977) the previous day.
