Can Republican uber-consultant Chris “Swift Boat” LaCivita possibly explain why “equal time” is so important in VA-02 but not to debates in VA-05? First, we have LaCivita’s “explanation” regarding why 2nd CD Republican nominee Scott “Cash for Clunkers” Rigell wouldn’t appear on stage with Sarah Palin yesterday. Believe it or not (emphasis on “not”):
…Rigell consultant Chris LaCivita told POLITICO Sunday that the campaign had decided against an onstage appearance out of caution for Federal Election Commission laws.
LaCivita explained that independent candidate Kenny Golden had not been offered equal time at the event.
Uh huh, right, sure, gotcha. And if you believe that one, you also believe that LaCivita’s puppet piggy bank 5th CD Republican candidate, Robert Hurt, is declining to appear in a debate with the “tea party” candidate because he doesn’t want to get “sidetracked by a candidate who is not serious about his campaign or his ability to win.”
So, let’s get this straight. In the 2nd CD, Chris LaCivita’s puppet piggy bank candidate is terribly concerned that the 3rd party candidate get “equal time.” In the 5th CD, LaCivita’s puppet piggy bank candidate is terribly concerned that the 3rd party candidate NOT get “equal time.”
Got that? No? Maybe Chris LaSwiftBoatVita can explain?
P.S. Oh, and I’m absolutely sure that LaCivita’s Rigell’s decision not to appear with Palin had nothing to do with polls like this one, indicating that “negative feelings toward the former Alaska governor far outweigh her draw at the ballot box.”
