Wednesday News: Tehran Attack; “Don’t Leave Me Alone With Trump”; Trumps Stole Kids’ Cancer Money

by Lowell

Here are a few national and Virginia news headlines, political and otherwise, for Wednesday, June 7.

  • John Farrell

Translation to Lowell’s shot at Lee Hockstader:

    • Actual translation: Lee “never see him in Virginia” Hockstader has been doing the shame tired shtick (“‘moderate Republicans’ and ‘conseveradems,’ anyone?” since at least 2006,) No thanks.

      • John Farrell

I understand he has a place in Loudoun and agrees with you on land use policy: no one else should ever be allowed to move Loudoun.

You remember Loudoun, right? Part of the Washington MSA since at least 1980 and not an exurb.

        • Say what? No clue what you’re talking about.

          • I take it you’re against smart growth/transit-oriented development, which I strongly support?

          • John Farrell

I’m in favor of regulations that allow the free market to provide housing for all of the people who work in the Washington MSA.

I’m not in favor of jamming them into high-rise rabbit warrens on top of noisy heavy rail stations so they can pay $4,000 per month for a 2 bedroom apartment.

I’m in favor of kids having a back yard to play in their sandbox and not a balcony to fall off of.

I’m not in favor of snob zoning that forces young families to commute to jobs in NoVa from Camp Hill, PA or Hagerstown, MD or Martinsburg, WV. And I know people who have those kind of commutes.

I’m in favor of more places like Reston that was conceived as a place dedicated to racial and socio-economic integration, where a family can “live, work and play” in the same place for their entire life time.

Hockstader opposes such a community existing in Loudoun. Do you?

Clueless. If you say so. 😉

  • Gene Rossi’s first endosement by an elected official?

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA – Democrat Gene Rossi, candidate for Lt. Governor, today announced a key endorsement in advance of next week’s primary – Prince William County School Board member Justin Wilk.

“I am proud to endorse Gene Rossi for Lt. Governor. Gene’s passion for protecting people is crystal clear – he’ll be a progressive voice for the people of Prince William County and all Virginians, and fight for better healthcare, criminal justice reform, and most importantly to me, strong public schools,” Wilk said. “Gene’s three decades of incredible public service and personal struggles overcoming great odds make him a superb choice. On June 13, I urge every Prince William County Democrat to vote for Gene Rossi.”

Rossi said, “I’m honored to have Justin’s endorsement. He knows how important helping at risk students are. As a teacher and former at-risk student, they will be a key priority for me in strengthening public education for all Virginians.”

  • Good news: Dems continue to dominate early voting in Virginia’s June 13 primaries
