I am all for driving green, and driving fewer miles will have some affect on gas prices. Ultimately though, when you have an electric car and solar panels on your roof you are in the perfect position to tell the oil companies to take a hike.

Steven Stoft’s book Carbonomics: How to Fix the Climate and Charge it to OPEC. His conclusion is that the best way now to reduce carbon energy use, while keeping revenue here rather than shipping it to OPEC, is to institute a carbon tax, all of which would be periodically distributed equally to all Americans-an “untax.” Stoft recommends an “untax”-a tax on fossil fuels (CO2 emissions), with 100% of the revenues refunded directly to consumers, just as Alaska sends its citizens a check every year from its oil revenues. That would encourage buyers to use less gasoline and keep the profits, but would let anyone unconcerned with cost buy as much gasoline as he or she wanted. Everyone would receive an equal amount back, but only by using less carbon would you end up with a profit.

I’ve been mowing lawns on gas mowers for almost 40 years and I’m tired of the gas exhaust. Each gas powered lawn mower removed from operation works out to taking 3 cars off the road in terms of emissions – http://www.blackanddecker.com/…
