Arlington County Board Member Jay Fisette Endorses Alfonso Lopez for Delegate
Cites Lopez’s Demonstrated Ability to Serve as an Effective Advocate for Arlington
Arlington County Board Member Jay Fisette has endorsed Alfonso Lopez in the race for the open 49th District House of Delegates seat. Fisette is a strong voice for human rights and smart growth policies within the Greater Washington metropolitan region and is recognized as one of the most forward thinking environment and energy advocates in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
“Though I considered remaining neutral in the primary for the House of Delegates seat being vacated by Adam Ebbin,” said Fisette, “it has become clear to me that Alfonso Lopez has the experience and insight necessary to be an effective advocate for Arlington and our values in Richmond. I know that Alfonso will provide the leadership we need on issues like equal and civil rights, job creation, education, and energy and the environment. He has my enthusiastic support.”
Fisette joins County Board Chair Chris Zimmerman, State Senator Mary Margaret Whipple, Former 49th District Delegate Karen Darner, Sheriff Beth Arthur, Former Virginia Partisans President Charley Conrad, and many others in supporting Lopez’s campaign for Delegate.
“For more than a decade Jay Fisette has provided strong leadership for Arlington,” said Lopez. “As County Board Chairman, Jay has led Arlington through some of our toughest trials. In 2001, Jay led Arlington’s response to the 9/11 terrorist attack on the Pentagon. Just last year, Jay worked to keep Arlington’s unemployment rate under 4% during the worst economic downturn in a generation. He was also the architect of the innovative Community Energy Plan recently embraced by the County Board. This groundbreaking approach to addressing energy and environment needs will help ensure Arlington’s sustainability and competitiveness for decades into the future. It is a great honor to have the support of such an outstanding and effective leader.”
Alfonso Lopez is a candidate for Virginia House of Delegates in the 49th District. With nearly 20 years of legislative experience at the highest levels in federal and state government and a record of achievement in our community, Lopez has dedicated his life to public service and Virginia.
