It’s good to hear President Obama getting feisty with Congress and with Republicans, who are apparently hell bent on destroying our economy over their rigid, near-theological ideological belief that evil T-A-X-E-S must never, ever be raised under any circumstances (even though they’re currently at the lowest level, as a share of the nation’s economy, since 1950!). Unfortunately, I’m not sure that having these Congresscritters stay in town, as opposed to skedaddling back to their districts (or wherever they go in the summer — the Koch brothers’ retreat, like McDonnell and Cuccinelli, perhaps?), would really help matters. But make no mistake: if the debt ceiling isn’t raised and financial markets go haywire, it’s 99.999999% the Teapublicans’ fault. Why only 99.99999% and not 100%? Unlike Teapublicans, I don’t like being an absolutist about these things. Heh.

Maybe Obama’s feeling feisty because of this: “A Republican-appointed judge joined with a Democratic appointee for the 2-1 majority in another milestone for Obama’s hotly debated signature domestic initiative – the first time a Republican federal court appointee has affirmed the merits of the [health care reform] law.”
