Haven’t Republicans heard that when you’re in a hole, the first thing you want to do is stop digging? Apparently not if you’re 30th Senate district candidate – and raging homophobe – Tim McGhee, running against Democratic nominee (and 100% certain winner, probably by a huge margin) Adam Ebbin. Check this out.
McGhee, however, defended his remarks when asked about them by the Del Ray Patch.
“It was a personal view… It was meant to be an added perspective on who God is and his mercy,” said McGhee, a database administrator for The Falls Church.

Two questions: 1) Where do Republicans find these wackos; and 2) Why are so few Republican candidates as open about stating their extremist views as Tim McGhee?
UPDATE: I’m told that McGhee said last night, at another forum (he really should avoid these things!) that he he doesn’t believe the Government had the authority to regulate a person’s right to bear arms because of the 2nd Amendment. When asked repeatedly what he was going to do about the illegal flow of guns to New York City, he said the government didn’t have the authority to regulate guns – even illegal ones! And this is the guy the Kaplan Post called a “moderate?” Wow.
