Video: Republicans Insist on an Individual Mandate for Health Care

As I’ve explained innumerable times, the concept of an “individual mandate” for health care is an almost purely conservative, Republican idea, coming out of the free market Heritage Foundation and many, many Republicans including Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, and a gazillion others. of course, Republicans today are against their own idea, simply because they want to “break” President Obama, but that doesn’t change the fact that they supported this very thing for decades (just as “cap and trade” was their idea, but now they virulently oppose it for purely political reasons). Try pointing this out to them, of course, and the response you’ll get is for them to hold their hands over their ears and yell “lalalalalaIcan’thearyou!!!” Still, just as with climate science, evolution, or the fundamental laws of physics, denying reality doesn’t mean it’s not reality. Nice try, Republican’ts, but it won’t work.
