Actually, it’s not really that perplexing why Romney doesn’t want to release his tax returns. Clearly, he and his campaign have decided that there’s some bad, bad stuff in there, and that the political downside to releasing those returns would be far, far worse than the political downside to not releasing them. Either way, though, it’s not good at all.
