Nelson County Democratic Committee Resolution
We, the members of the Nelson County Democratic Committee,
assert that promotion of equal rights for all citizens is a basic tenet of our party’s beliefs.
We believe the legitimacy of same-sex marriage resides within this body of equal rights in the minds of the preponderance of our party.
We respect the right of members of our party to disagree on this matter due to their sincerely held religious beliefs.
However, we believe it is essential that anyone who would assume the position of leader of the Democratic Party of Virginia must openly support same-sex marriage as an important and immutable “equal right.”
