Northam raises over $1 million in first half of 2016; brings total over $2.3 million
Northam raised $1 million from 6,700 contributions and has over $1.4 million cash on hand despite not being able to raise for the 60 day legislative session.
(Norfolk, VA) – Today, the Northam for Governor campaign announced it raised over $1 million in its first financial report in 2016. Northam has over $1.4 million cash on hand as of the June 30th reporting deadline. The fundraising haul is even more impressive since Northam was barred from all fundraising for 60 days during the legislative session. The Northam campaign raised an additional $1 million in 2015, which brings his total haul to over $2.3 million for his run for Governor in 2017.
Northam has built a vast grassroots campaign across the Commonwealth. 91% of the campaign’s 6,700 contributions came from Virginians in this time period and 91% of the contributions were $100 or less.
Northam’s $1.4 million cash on hand puts him in a better financial at this point in the cycle than either Cuccinelli and McAuliffe in 2013 or McDonnell, Deeds, Moran, or McAuliffe in 2009.
“Virginians want their next Governor to build on our economic progress by promoting Virginia’s top notch work force, favorable business environment, and best quality of life while also rejecting the dangerous social agenda that threatens women’s access to health care. That’s why our grassroots campaign is fueled by 6,700 contributions in just 16 weeks, 91% of which are from Virginians,” said Lieutenant Governor Northam.
