LuAnn Bennett Statement on Recent Terrorist Attacks; Comstock Voted Nine Times Against “No Fly, No Buy” Legislation

2

Check out the following statement by LuAnn Bennett, who notes that the GOP-controlled Congress – of which Barbara Comstock is a member – has failed to pass “No Fly, No Buy” legislation to “ensure that would-be terrorists are unable to purchase dangerous weapons and explosives.” One point I’d add is that Comstock voted NINE TIMES (!) to block a Republican bill that would have allowed the Attorney General to deny the sale or transfer of firearms to individuals suspected of engaging in or assisting terrorist activities. Yet again, as on so many issues, we can see where Comstock’s priorities lie…and let’s just say they are NOT with the voters of the 10th CD.

McLean – VA-10 Democratic challenger LuAnn Bennett released the following statement on the ongoing investigations into the apparent terrorist attacks in New York, New Jersey and Minnesota:

“In these dangerous and uncertain times, we have once again been reminded that America has the finest law enforcement personnel in the world. I commend them on their outstanding and heroic efforts in response to the bombings in New York and New Jersey and the attack in Minnesota. My thoughts and prayers are with those wounded, including two police officers, and their families.

“We must be vigilant in our efforts to protect our country and communities in the face of terrorist attacks like these, and we must ensure intelligence and law enforcement agencies have the tools they need to keep us safe. Preventing lone wolf attacks are a difficult challenge that requires additional intelligence resources. We also must ensure that would-be terrorists are unable to purchase dangerous weapons and explosives. Congress must take action right now to pass “No Fly, No Buy” legislation to achieve this.

“Congress’s most important priority should be to ensure the safety and security of the American people, and that will be my chief concern as a member of Congress representing the 10th District.”
