Here are a few national and Virginia news headlines, political and otherwise, for Tuesday, September 13. Also check out Samantha Bee mocking “reporters,” “journalists,” “moderators” etc. for failing to “do their f***king job” and/or reporting the facts. As Bee points out, “calling a liar a liar isn’t an opinion if you can prove it; that’s what we call a ‘fact’.” Time for the media to get on the job of fact-checking the “geyser of mendacious vomit that spews nonstop from the Trump campaign.”
- Trump’s latest conspiracy theory: The economy (“The GOP nominee’s attack on the Fed prompts widespread rebuttals.”)
- Donald Trump gave an interview this morning that should be shocking — but we’re numb (Trump “once again reminded the world of the most fundamental fact about his candidacy — he doesn’t really seem to understand any aspect of American public policy.”)
- Trump loves Vladimir Putin. Could his tax returns explain why?
- Yes, half of Trump supporters are racist (“Fear that white people are losing ground was the greatest predictor of support for the GOP nominee.”)
- Clinton’s health is Obama’s birth certificate all over again: A barely disguised way for conservatives to wallow in bigotry
- The self-refuting idea that America needs Donald Trump as a savior (“Portions of the far right have a childish trust of the GOP nominee.”)

- Tim Kaine Says Even with Pneumonia Hillary Clinton Is ‘Chatty and Funny’
- Hillary has pneumonia, so let’s talk about Trump’s awful health care plan (“If you lose your insurance under Trump’s health plan and end up hospitalized for a lung infection, it will cost you”)
- The Trump campaign won’t even call David Duke “deplorable”: Mike Pence says he is “not in the name calling business” (In fact, Trump’s entire campaign has been very much about name calling from day #1.)
- Hundreds of nations agree to domestic trade ban for ivory (“The agreement is voluntary, but conservationists are hopeful.”)
- NCAA to North Carolina: No championship games until you repeal the anti-LGBT law (“They’ve been warned over and over; they haven’t listened.”)
- The inside story of Clinton’s sick day (“Hillary Clinton never lost consciousness, and never stopped talking on her phone — and never put anyone else in danger — after her near swoon at a Sept. 11 memorial on Sunday in New York, according to accounts offered by several people close to the candidate.”)

Terry McAuliffe in contempt (“In a 93-page filing, Solicitor General Stuart Raphael called the Republican line of logic in this case ‘truly baseless.’ He ticked off procedural and technical reasons why McAuliffe can’t be held in contempt of the court’s August ruling, and he suggested that Republicans are simply trying to re-litigate an already finished legal battle ahead of the November presidential election.”)
