Letter from NC Warn Regarding Fracked Gas Pipelines, Methane Emissions Applies Just As Well to Virginia

The following letter from NC Warn – regarding the recent (rah-rah, pat-selves-on-backs) Climate Alliance Report that badly “misse[d] the mark on a crucial aspect of what prominent scientists call our climate crisis” – could just have easily been sent to Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe. Specifically, when it comes to Virginia, I’d argue that it’s impossible to claim you’re a climate champion – or even a leader – when you’re busy pushing new fracked gas pipelines that are equivalent to building 45 (!!!) new coal-fired power plants in the state. And no, wildly understanding the methane leakage rate and, hence, the impact of new natural gas infrastructure on the climate, is not going to cut it.

With that, check out this letter, and if you want, substitute “Virginia” for “North Carolina,” “Terry McAuliffe for “Roy Cooper” and “Dominion Energy” for “Duke Energy.” It all still basically applies…
