Check out the first Facebook town hall by one of my favorite fresh(wo)men delegates – Jennifer Carroll Foy (note: I’ve heard her described as a “rock star” as well as a future Speaker of the House, and I’d definitely agree she has the potential). Key points by Foy included: 1) she is for Medicaid expansion, even if it includes a work requirement of some sort, as it’s crucial to provide health care coverage to hundreds of thousands of Virginians; 2) we badly need gun safety legislation, but unfortunately almost every bill along those lines was killed on party-line votes (e.g., by Republicans) in committee; and 3) if we want to pass progressive legislation, we need to take control of the Virginia General Assembly in 2019.
