3 Virginia Republicans Make List of “12 Far-Right Candidates Working to Pull the GOP to the Fringe in 2018”; Should Be More!

This is a good list by the superb Right Wing Watch, and they certainly nailed it by including bigoted theocrat and “anti-LGBTQ radio host” EW Jackson; neo-Confederate and “anti-immigrant conspiracy theorist” Corey Stewart; and of course VA-06 GOP candidate Cynthia Dunbar, an “anti-LGBTQ and anti-choice activist who believes that Christians must gain control over our ‘socialized education system’ in order to stop schools from ‘effectively indoctrinating our children’ with messages and values that conflict with the Religious Right’s reading of the Bible.” I’d only suggest that they could have had a longer list than 12 nationally, with more from Virginia such as Nick Freitas, an extreme “libertarian” (a la Ron/Rand Paul) who believes believes that Social Security is a “Ponzi scheme” and that gun violence in this country is caused by “gun-free zones,” “broken homes” and the government policies that supposedly contribute to “broken homes,” “various cultural changes that happened in the 60s [including] the abortion industry,” “the welfare state,” “dismantling families as [they] became more and more dependent on the government,” etc. I’d also suggest adding Dave Brat, who has lots of weird/crazy shit to say on all kinds of subjects. I could go on, but you get the idea…the Virginia GOP is filled with folks who richly deserve to be on Right Wing Watch’s “Fringe” list.
