Corey Stewart shoots his (big) mouth off a lot, so it’s no surprise he says some things that end up coming back to bite him in the butt. For instance, check out the following video from May 30, as Corey Stewart declares: “We need to win this thing by a lot, we need to have a full momentum, you know I can’t squeak this thing out by 1 percent and claim to have momentum, we’ve got to have a big win.”
So how did that work out? Well, Corey did end up winning the Virginia GOP U.S. Senate primary, but by just 1.8 points (44.9%-43.1%), after trailing to Nick Freitas most of the night and only edging ahead as results from his home county of Prince William and also neighboring Fairfax County came in. In short, it was a squeaker for Corey, definitely NOT “a big win,” and definitely nothing where he can “claim to have momentum” or satisfy his requirement that “we need to win this thing by a lot.” So, if Corey was right back on May 30, is he doomed at this point to be a big loser in November? Or does Corey now consider a 1.8-point win, with just 44.9% of the vote, to be a “big win,” even though it clearly isn’t? Can’t wait to hear him try to slick-talk his way out of this one. 🙂
