Politico is out with its predictions for all 50 states, including Virginia (see below), where it has seven solid “R” (VA-01, VA-06, VA-09) or “D” (VA-03, VA-04, VA-08, VA-11) districts and four competitive districts: VA-10 as “Lean Democrat,” VA-02 and VA-07 as “Tossup,” VA-05 as “Likely Republican.” I basically agree with these ratings, although I’d probably make VA-05 “Lean Republican” and possibly put VA-07 as “Lean Democrat.” For comparison purposes, check out 538’s predictions, which actually have VA-05 as a Toss-Up, VA-07 as Lean R (that’s ridiculous), VA-10 as “Likely D” and VA-02 as “Likely R” (that should be at WORST “Lean R”). As for Tim Kaine, the main issue is how big he wins by, and how badly Corey Stewart hurts Republican “downballot” candidates on November 6.
