Is the following (see press release, below) the least surprising news ever? I mean, could there possibly be a more perfect fit than far-right crazy Dave Brat and far-right crazy Jerry Falwell, Jr.? For Falwell’s latest lunacy, by the way, see Jerry Falwell Jr. can’t imagine Trump ‘doing anything that’s not good for the country’ (note in that interview, Falwell also said, “It’s such a distortion of the teachings of Jesus to say that what he taught us to do personally — to love our neighbors as ourselves, help the poor — can somehow be imputed on a nation”). So yeah, a perfect fit for far-right, Dave “I’m an Economist!” Brat — the guy who said that the “free market” would solve the problem of someone putting poison sausage on your pizza because “rational people will figure out in about five minutes that if you go to this pizza joint, you die.” Hey, wait, was that in the Gospels? Nope, didn’t think so!
Liberty welcomes Dr. Dave Brat as new business dean

Liberty University is pleased to announce the hiring of a new dean for its School of Business, Dr. Dave Brat. Effective Jan. 2, 2019, Dr. Brat will take the helm of the School of Business, one of Liberty’s largest schools. Dr. Brat has worked in the private sector for the accounting firm Arthur Andersen and for the World Bank assisting developing world economies. Prior to this time, he held a teaching position and was Chairman of the economics and business department at Randolph-Macon College.
In his most recent role as a Congressman, Dr. Brat served Virginia’s 7th District. Dr. Brat holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Hope College, an M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Economics from American University. Dr. Brat and his wife, Laura, have two children, Jonathan and Sophia.
“We are excited to have Dave Brat joining our team at Liberty and especially in our School of Business,” said Liberty Interim Provost Dr. Scott Hicks. “Dave’s experience in the private business sector, in higher education, and most recently as a U.S. Congressman, offer a unique blend of applied experience that brings additional value and depth to our business faculty.”
President Jerry Falwell added: “Liberty continues to hire brilliant people who bring with them a wealth of knowledge and life experience. Both Dr. Brat and Professor Tony Nobles (Liberty’s new Center for Entrepreneurship executive director) have established themselves as leaders. I’m thrilled to have them join our faculty.”
