Gotta love it when two right-wing, Trumpster white guys get together to talk about racism. A few “highlights” from this morning’s discussion on the “John Fredericks Show.”
Fredericks: “I really thought the statement that Ralph Northam…saying that all Virginians have to look in the mirror so to speak…we’ve got to heal, he’s got to address white privilege; I guess I missed that when they handed out the white privilege card...That doesn’t have anything to do with me.”
Riggleman: “Actually, it infuriated me…for Northam to say that is actually cowardly; I don’t have to look in a mirror and question why or what if I was a Virginian…for him to say that *I* need healing…I don’t need healing…I don’t need it, and I thought most people who saw that thought it condescending…I had Thanksgiving on a cardboard box one year, you don’t get to preach to me about white privilege, you just don’t.”
Riggleman: “I don’t think any of them [Ralph Northam, Justin Fairfax, Mark Herring] are going to resign, I think we will have [them] through the end of the term.”
Riggleman: “By the way, in North Carolina…there’s no statute of limitations on the crime that [Justin Fairfax] was alleged to have committed…He could actually still be criminally charged…and if this individual decides to pursue charges, you’re talking about a Lt. Governor who could actually be indicted…It’s really appalling what’s happening.”
Riggleman: “Why do we need healing if [Ralph Northam] didn’t do it? OK, why are you out there reading these books if that wasn’t you? What are you doing? I’m sorry John, there’s commonsense people out there scratching their head like, well this is interesting…so he’s calling for racial equity when he did that but he said he didn’t do that…Why don’t you find those two guys [in the yearbook photos], have them come out and call for racial equity and healing…it’s an absolute assault on the commonsense of African Americans…it’s just bizarre.”
Fredericks: “Bizarre it is.”

Yeah, you know what else is “bizarre?” Two white Republican guys sitting around talking about how outraged they are at the very concept of white privilege or that there might need to be racial healing in our Commonwealth and in our country. Ugh.
