See below for some more interesting Virginia political analysis by Chaz Nuttycombe. This thread is about HD-76, a Suffolk City/Chesapeake City district that SHOULD have a Democratic delegate starting in January 2020, as it went for Tim Kaine in 2018 by 25 points (62%-37%) and for Ralph Northam in 2017 by 21 points (60%-39%), as well as for Hillary Clinton by 13 points (54%-41%) under its new, non-racially-“packed” lines. Currently, it’s held by Del. Chris Jones (R), who is the powerful Chairman of the House Appropriations committee, and also serves on the Rules and Privileges & Elections committees.

As a powerful member of Republican House leadership, Jones not surprisingly has a ton of money on hand – $562k as of March 31, 2019. Still, as Chaz Nuttycombe explains (see below), Jones is highly vulnerable, given the new partisan and racial makeup of the district. I’m not seeing a website for the Democrat, Clint Jenkins, but I’m looking forward to learning more about him and helping him win this seat!
