I had a chance to sit down for a couple hours with Buta Biberaj (D), who is running for Commonwealth’s Attorney in Loudoun Countuy, and was VERY impressed with her (as is Rep. Jennifer Wexton, clearly – see her statement, below). Biberaj is super smart, and she understands the balance between making progressive criminal justice reforms while of course protecting the public and advocating for victims. I encourage everyone to support her in the general election, presumably against Republican Nicole Wittman.

Wexton Endorses Buta Biberaj for Loudoun Commonwealth’s Attorney

(Leesburg, VA) Buta Biberaj has been endorsed by Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton in her quest to become the next Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney.

“Buta Biberaj has been serving the people of Loudoun for over 25 years — as an attorney, substitute judge, and guardian ad litem. She knows we can’t incarcerate ourselves out of the addiction crisis, and she values partnering with schools, businesses, and community leaders to find real community solutions. I enthusiastically endorse her to be Loudoun’s next Commonwealth’s Attorney.”

Biberaj, a long time Loudoun County resident, would bring over 25 years of diverse experience to the role.

“I am especially proud to have the endorsement of my good friend Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton. As a former Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney, she knows what it takes to get Loudoun where we need to be.”

Congresswoman Wexton recently headlined a fundraiser for Biberaj, where she noted the importance of the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office in our criminal justice system.

Wexton, who has worked with Biberaj in the past, believes strongly in her message of justice, equality, transparency and integrity.
