The following press release is from Susan Platt’s ItsJustGoodBusiness.org. I couldn’t agree more that it’s time – actually long past time – for Virginia, and the rest of the nation, to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. There are a bunch of reasons why that’s the case, including the ones Platt lays out in her press release about how “supporting equality for women is just good business.” So true.

Susan Platt Launches “It’s Just Good Business” to Support Virginia Campaign Pass the ERA in 2020

Virginia is Final State Needed for Ratification

LEESBURG, VA:  Former Virginia Lt Gov candidate and host of weekly radio show “Platt-itudes” on WJFN 100.5 Richmond, Susan Platt today announced the formation of “It’s Just Good Business” www.itsjustgoodbusiness.org.  “Supporting equality for women is just good business” has applied for a 501(C)4 non-profit Virginia Corporation status with a mission of engaging the business community on the benefits of civil and equal rights for women. “It is important to note 83% of all spending is influenced by women and we are 47% of the workforce, yet the average gender pay gap is 20% with larger percentages for African American women at 39% and Latina woman at 47%” Platt said. “We aim to raise awareness, involvement and support by business leaders and consumers for the necessity of the amendment granting equal rights for women by 2020, the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which recognized women’s right to vote.”

Our mission is to build support from businesses across the Commonwealth to let our elected leaders know that supporting equality for women is “Just Good Business.” We will be travelling across Virginia talking about how almost every industrialized nation except the United States has a constitutional guarantee of equal rights for men and women. It’s about time the U.S. join the civilized world with assurance.

The goal of “It’s Just Good Business” is to have 100 businesses sign on to the effort by the General Assembly Session in 2020.
