The following is from the Stafford County Democrats, about Republican/right-wingnut HD28 nominee Paul Milde joking about migrant children “separated from their parents and locked in cages like animals…warehoused in squalid conditions, sick and dying.” Yep, that’s right, this self-proclaimed, 100% “pro-life” Republican is not, actually, supportive of life as soon as it leaves the womb – let alone if the life we’re talking about happens to be an immigrant and/or a person of color. As the Stafford County Dems put it: “This man is unfit to be the next Delegate for the 28th House District. Join us in voting for Joshua Cole for Delegate this November.”
We have a humanitarian crisis on the Southern border and Paul Milde is making jokes. Migrant children, separated from their parents and locked in cages like animals, are being warehoused in squalid conditions, sick and dying, and Paul Milde is making jokes. Well, we’re not laughing. This man is unfit to be the next Delegate for the 28th House District. Join us in voting for Joshua Cole for Delegate this November.
P.S. As usual, the right wingnuts can’t spell…it’s “concentration” not “concentraion”
UPDATE: Josh Cole comments…
Matt 25:36-40
36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,[a] you did it to me.’
If our opponent makes a heinous joke about people’s struggle – we know what he’ll do in the House of Delegates – we will NOT let this happen!
UPDATE #2: From the VA House Dem Caucus…
House Democratic Leader Eileen Filler-Corn Responds to Republican Nominee’s Anti-Semitic Post
RICHMOND (June 30, 2019) – On Saturday, the Republican nominee for the 28th district in the House of Delegates, Paul Milde, posted a meme to his Facebook page, below, that appears to mock the children detained at the U.S. southern border and the victims of the Holocaust. In June, Milde defeated incumbent Bob Thomas in the Republican primary by running to the right of Thomas and challenging Thomas for voting to expand access to affordable health care.
House Democratic Leader Eileen Filler-Corn, the first woman and Jewish leader of a caucus in the Virginia House of Delegates, issued the following statement:
“House Republican nominee Paul Milde has at once mocked the children at our border who are separated from their parents and are living in cages without soap or toothbrushes, as well as the six million Jews and five million others who died in concentration camps during the Holocaust.
“‘Jokes’ such as the one Mr. Milde shared on his Facebook are not light-hearted nor are they harmless – they are anti-Semitic, anti-immigrant, horrific, disturbing, anti-American, and dehumanizing.
“Mr. Milde should remove the post and apologize immediately.”
In 2017, Democratic nominee Josh Cole lost the election by fewer than 100 votes. Cole is running again this year and also issued a comment condemning Milde’s social media post.
