UPDATED 5:48 pm – See below for *lots* more bills.

Yes, elections really *do* matter, as we’re going to start seeing here in Virginia very shortly. For instance, check out the first bills – and one important constitutional amendment! – introduced by Democratic members for the 2020 Virginia General Assembly session, where of course Democrats will be in the majority, thanks to the 11/5 election results.

  • HJ1, by Del. Jennifer Carroll Foy, “Ratifies the Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.”
  • HB1, by new House Majority Leader Del. Charniele Herring, provides for no-excuse absentee voting.
  • HB2, by Del. Ken Plum, calls for mandatory background checks on any firearms transfer, including at firearms shows.
  • HB3, by Del. Delores McQuinn, “adds discrimination on the basis of an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity as an unlawful housing practice.”

Good stuff.
