Lots More Bills Introduced, Including Slew of Criminal Justice Reform Legislation

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

A bunch more bills have now been posted on the Virginia Legislative Information System, including a slew on criminal justice reform. According to VAPLAN, all these great bills – raising the felony larceny threshold to $2,000; giving juries more sentencing options; decriminalizing and/or legalizing marijuana; eliminating the death penalty for those with severe mental illness; community service in lieu of court fines or costs; increasing the age (from 14 to 16) for trying someone as an adult; etc. – are giving her a “natural high.” Also, check out Del. Alfonso Lopez’s bill prohibiting law enforcement from inquiring into the immigration status of crime victims. Lots of great stuff, and of course, all by Democrats. Yes, elections really do matter, and the parties really are different – big time.
