Today, Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger, Delegate Lashrecse Aird, and Biden for President Public Health Advisory Committee member and former FDA Commissioner Dr. David Kessler held a virtual roundtable with Virginians on the importance of access to health care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

They spoke about Vice President Biden’s leadership throughout the COVID-19 crisis, what steps the federal government should take during this crisis so that Americans can return to their lives safely, and how Biden plans to expand health care access to all Americans.

“Moving forward — because we are in this place where people are continuing to die and the cases of COVID-19 continue to rise — we need a plan. And as a Member of Congress, I’ve been focused on this with my colleagues, but we need an Executive Branch that wants to drive on that plan. We need to get new cases down. We need quick and accurate testing. We need the supply chains in place. And here is where we have seen the leadership of Vice President Biden — he has done it before,” said Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger.

“You know, the Affordable Care Act has truly widened coverage for so many Americans in our country. And right now, as we are actively in the midst of this public health emergency, we’re really witnessing, more than ever, just how important that critical coverage is. Vice President Biden knows that,” said Delegate Lashrecse Aird.

“Let me just start off by saying that I’ve had the privilege of briefing Vice President Biden almost daily on the epidemic, for the last seven weeks. He’s lived epidemics and crises over his career. And that certainly comes through to me. Now I’ve worked for both Republican and Democratic presidents. Vice President Biden wants the experts around him to tell him the truth. No sugarcoating. Doesn’t look for praise. He wants it straight, so he can protect the American public. He believes deeply that policy should be based in science,” said Dr. David Kessler.
