From DPVA:
DPVA Chair condemns Trump administration as COVID-19 deaths top 100,000 in the United States
As the total number of deaths in the United States exceeded 100,000 recently, Democratic Party of Virginia Chair Susan Swecker released the following statement in response:
“With over 1,000 deaths in the Commonwealth alone and 100,000 nationwide, everyone is reeling from the effects of this pandemic. I want to reach out from the bottom of my heart to comfort and recognize the extent of suffering felt in our communities.
I am profoundly appalled by how poorly this crisis has been handled on a national level. Donald Trump and his administration have sought to mislead the American public and deflect any responsibility for this pandemic. If Trump had heeded the warnings of his advisors in the early weeks, tens of thousands of lives could have been spared. Instead, he ignored the problem and failed to deliver testing, supplies, and guidance that could have saved lives. Other countries avoided the worst of this virus by acting quickly and following scientists’ advice. Donald Trump did not.
His inconsistent and incoherent response has devastated our country. No president who does this much harm deserves to be reelected. America deserves better.”
